This impressive picture is the result of a brainstorming session with our research colleges Erich Schubert and Arthur Zimek from the database systems group. It’s a MDS Scatterplot (computed with the data mining software ELKI) where artworks with similar tags are grouped together. If you take a closer look you can identify different clusters of artworks, e.g.:
- portraits are located on the left side of the plot, grouped by color
- building related artworks are located on the bottom of the plot
- abstract artworks are placed on the right side of the plot
- on the top of the plot, landscape artworks can be found.
=> Can you find other artwork clusters in this picture?
I’m looking forward to our cooperation!
